The Centre’s social security initiatives have recorded tremendous success in Assam, with over 12 lakh beneficiaries enrolling by 20th of this month under the Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana and the Pradhan Mantri Jivan Jyoti Bima Yojana.
Assistant General Manager of SBI, S C Sen, said while Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana received around eight lakh forty-five thousand applications, about four lakh beneficiaries were registered under the Pradhan Mantri Jivan Jyoti Bima Yojana.
According to reports, the banks are engaged in vigorous awareness campaigns in the state to bring more people under the schemes. Apart from displaying banners and posters, the banks are also organising financial literacy camps to create more awareness on Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana and Pradhan Mantri Jivan Jyoti Bima Yojana.
The banks have deployed dedicated staffs to enroll beneficiaries under these schemes. People were seen lining up in long queues at Guwahati branch of Vijay bank to enroll themselves in the insurance schemes.
