Government using Amitabh Bachchan in a big way to push programmes.
After being out of favour in government advertisement campaigns for over a decade of UPA rule, Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan is back with a bang. The NDA launched the iconic actor in two advertisements and one campaign for the Narendra Modi government in the past few days. It is believed that with the legend sharing a great rapport with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, more such campaigns featuring Bachchan are in the offing.
In the past few days, the department of financial services released advertisements on the Atal Pension Yojna and Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojna featuring Bachchan, where he seeks the involvement of all Indians in these welfare measures aimed at improving conditions for the poor. The coming Yoga Day campaign has also got support from the cine star.
Sources noted that prior to the decade where he was virtually blacked out of government campaigns, Bachchan had featured in the highly-successful campaign for polio eradication launched under the Atal Behari Vajpayee government.
Amitabh Bachchan’s return to government ad campaigns was expected as the filmstar shares a great rapport with Mr Modi, and he was the Gujarat government’s brand ambassador when Mr Modi was chief minister.
